Tom and Jacit

Hi! We’re Tom and Jacit. We live in Washington State, surrounded by tall evergreens, close friends, and a supportive and inclusive community. Our home is filled with laughter, nerdy references, and the footfalls of tiny paws racing down the hallway. While we’re proud of the life we’ve built, our dream is to be parents and we’re so fortunate to have found ourselves on an adoption path.

Both of us work in the housing industry, with Jacit on the nonprofit side, helping families experiencing homelessness, and Tom as a manager of apartment communities that participate in an affordable housing program. We love spending weekends exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with our pup, cooking together, or having cozy movie nights. We’re also lucky to have nieces and nephews who bring so much joy into our lives and remind us how special family time really is.

We actually grew up in the same small town in Alaska, but we didn’t really know each other until college. We both joined the debate team at the University of Alaska, and somewhere between long tournaments and friendly arguments, we realized we made a pretty great team. That shared beginning taught us how to communicate, listen, and support one another—things that still shape our relationship every day.

We believe that open adoption can be a beautiful way to build connection. We’d love for a child to grow up knowing where they come from and to understand the story of their adoption. We’re committed to an open adoption, and recognize that it looks different from family to family.

If we’re fortunate enough to be chosen as adoptive parents, we promise our child will be cherished and supported every single day. We’ll nurture their curiosity, celebrate who they are, and make sure they always know their story.
