Sheldon and Glen

Hello! We’re Sheldon and Glen. We’re best friends and partners in every sense of the word. Our relationship is built on open communication, encouragement, laughter, shared curiosity, and a deep commitment to family, which we are excited to grow through adoption.

We met in the winter of 2019 and our first date felt like a true discovery of soulmates. When the pandemic hit just a few months later, we decided to spend what we thought would be a short lockdown together in Glen’s apartment. We soon realized how natural it felt to share our lives. By summer, Sheldon had sold his own place and we were committed to building a future together.

So, in 2021 we married and settled into our cozy home in Portland, Oregon, by a large public park in a diverse neighborhood. It’s an easy stroll from our front door to schools, the local farmers’ market, the theatre, and community centers. While we both work from home and have our separate private offices in the house, Glen often sets up in the dining room so he’s never too far from Sheldon or our cuddly dog, Jetson.

Sheldon, an attorney, is loving, honest, patient, and observant. Glen, an urban planner, is curious, generous, kind, thoughtful, and romantic. Together, we love exploring new places, whether on trails, car trips, or journeys abroad. At home, Sheldon tends to tomatoes, chilies, and herbs in the backyard, while Glen grows berries and flowers for arranging. Jetson does his part to help keep the yard squirrel-free. Many evenings find us on the back patio, reading, grilling, and enjoying the change of seasons. Family is at the heart of our lives, and our home is often the gathering place for loved ones. With Sheldon’s talent for cooking and baking, we host mid-week family hangouts, big Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas morning brunches filled with laughter and good food.

We chose to pursue adoption because we want to be parents and feel we have a lot of love and opportunities to share with a child. We’re also fortunate to have the nearby support of a close friends and family, including relatives who have experienced adoption, grown up in foster care or mixed-background households, or otherwise followed unique paths in life. Through them, we’ve seen firsthand how openness in adoption can strengthen family bonds and help a child feel whole by understanding where they come from and knowing they are loved by many. Our hope is to expand this already diverse family and to raise a child in a home where differences are celebrated, everyone feels valued, and love is constant and unconditional.

Gratefully,
Sheldon & Glen
