Ashley and Dan

Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We’re Ashley and Dan, and we’re excited to share a little about our life and our hopes for growing our family through adoption.
We live in Oregon’s Willamette Valley in a cozy house with our sweet border collie, Luna. Our neighborhood is quiet and welcoming, with nearby parks and a farmers market where we enjoy fresh produce and friendly conversations. We love spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking and camping in the summer or snowshoeing in the winter. At home, we find joy in simple things like cooking together and tending our vegetable garden.

We met in college and have grown into a strong, loving partnership built on trust, laughter, and shared values. We support each other through life’s challenges and celebrate the everyday moments. We’re ready to welcome a child into our family and share with them all the warmth, love, and adventure we have to offer.

Ashley is a special education teacher who works with toddlers and their families. She is curious, optimistic, and deeply patient. She finds meaning in helping children grow and thrive. Outside of work, she enjoys pottery, reading, and creative projects. Dan is a mechanical engineer who designs medical devices that help people live healthier lives. He is logical, empathetic, and confident. He enjoys biking, kayaking, and trying new recipes in the kitchen. Luna adds a playful and gentle energy to our home, especially around children.

Adoption has always been part of our plan. A medical condition prevents us from having biological children, something we’ve known since early in our relationship. It has never changed our commitment to each other or our dream of becoming parents. In the summer of 2024, we provided short-term foster care for several children. We loved being caregivers, and saying goodbye was always hard. That experience confirmed we feel ready to embrace a child of our own.

We hope to raise a child who is emotionally strong, self-aware, and kind to others and to themselves. Our home is a place where all emotions are welcome and where curiosity and independence are encouraged. We plan to share meaningful traditions from our Jewish and Christian backgrounds while also honoring our child’s birth heritage and beliefs.

We are seeking an open adoption because we believe family includes everyone who loves and supports a child. Whether that means sharing holidays, playdates, or occasional letters and photos, we are open to building a relationship that feels right for our child’s birth family. We want our child to know their full story and to understand it with honesty, love, and respect.

Most of all, we want our child to feel deeply loved, celebrated for who they are, and supported every step of the way. We will make sure they always know how cherished they are by us and by their birth family.

Warmly,
Ashley and Dan
