Ryan and Andrew
Hello, we are Ryan and Andrew and we’re grateful that you are taking the time to learn about us. Our hearts are open, hopeful, and fully prepared to welcome a child into our family.
Our journey together began 13 years ago with a simple match on an online dating site. At the core of our relationship is unwavering teamwork and emotional balance. Andrew is often the energized, solution-focused planner, and Ryan pairs with enthusiasm, organization, levelhead and comedic relief. In every uncertain moment, we know how to help each other regulate and refocus, ensuring that a child will always see calm, supportive teamwork modeled at home.
Our shared goal is to provide a loving, stable, and nurturing home. Becoming fathers is the most purposeful and exciting chapter of our lives. Andrew has long known that Ryan would be an extraordinary parent. From teaching swimming lessons to children of all ages to effortlessly connecting through play and imagination, Ryan’s patience and warmth are his superpowers. Children in our lives—especially our niece and our young cousins—naturally gravitate toward him. Ryan, in turn, sees Andrew as a motivator and encourager, someone who creates an environment that fosters growth, confidence, and joy. His energy and drive ensure that any child in our care will be supported in exploring their passions and reaching their full potential.
A few details that reflect our personalities: Andrew once attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Charcuterie Board and can recite the alphabet backward faster than forward. Ryan can identify local hawks and falcons by wingspan and tail feathers. These quirks, along with a shared sense of humor and curiosity, bring constant laughter and light to our home.
Both of us maintain fulfilling careers with the State of Oregon. Flexible, hybrid work schedules allow us to prioritize family time while maintaining balance and stability. Our home is a cozy, three-bedroom retreat on a quiet, welcoming cul-de-sac. The fenced backyard is a vibrant, secure space where our husky, Kyra, lounges next to our small flock of chickens. Weekends bring music, gardening, baking, movies and the laughter of neighborhood children playing outside. Our home will be filled with meaningful traditions, family recipes, annual camping trips, hikes, and the importance of Saturday morning cartoons.
We are surrounded by a large, loving community—our village. Family members including grandparents, parents, siblings; and so many other family and friends that are all eager to welcome a new addition. Our child will have many playmates and guiding figures surrounding them.
As parents, our hope is to raise a child who is kind, curious, and confident. These values will be taught through encouragement, education, and empathy—helping them develop an appreciation for diverse perspectives and cultures. If we are blessed with a transracial or transcultural placement, that heritage will be embraced and honored with intention. We wholeheartedly believe in the importance of open adoption. Our goal is to support healthy communication and transparency in order to help our child understand their story, their identity, and the profound love behind their adoption.
Thank you for your time and your consideration. With gratitude and hope,
Ryan and Andrew
