Vivian and Max
Hi! We are Vivian and Max, two born-and-raised Oregonians who are hoping to raise another one through open adoption. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.
We are truly grateful to have the opportunity to build our family through open adoption. Expanding our little family of four (with our two dogs, Sage and Lavender) through adoption has been on our minds and in our hearts, from the beginning of our relationship. Vivian has an aunt that her grandparents adopted in Vietnam, before their family came to the states. Open adoption appeals to us, because we feel that people are the sum of their personal experiences and those around them. Coming from large families, we are hoping to have a large one of our very own, and our extensive support system has been looking forward to helping us welcome a child!
We first started trying to build our family by attempting to conceive naturally, and after some time we went through various fertility treatments. Unfortunately, these attempts were unsuccessful, but we are comforted in the fact that adoption has always been a part of our family building plan.
Max is a family medicine doctor, and Vivian is a work-from-home clinical pharmacist; we both currently work for local non-profit organizations, and were both drawn to medicine because of our dedication to helping the underserved, and our love of caring for others. Vivian is warm, comforting and it is in her nature to seek connection with others. She is often coordinating activities for family and friends, such as board game nights, camping trips, and various gatherings. Max is always seeking out a new adventure, whether that be a long-distance stand up paddle boarding or surfing in frigid temperatures along the PNW coast. He is fun loving, hard working, and has a healthy love of all things plant and wildlife. We are often described as adventurous, light-hearted, and motivated individuals who care deeply about others and you can often find us jetting off to visit friends and family on weekends!
Our favorite things to do together include rafting and camping, and we hope to share this love of the outdoors with our children. Vivian grew up in a Vietnamese family and culture, where food is the shared love language and greatly enjoys feeding others. We are both huge foodies, love new experiences, and always have a list of places to check out next! To unwind, we watch TV and films in front of our fireplace, with our dogs taking up the prime positions (and us squeezing in where we can). Sage is a self-determined Wirehaired Pointer and Lavender is a loving Cocker Spaniel, they are always game for belly rubs!
Our vision for our family is one filled with love, learning and adventures. To us, parenting is an ever-evolving experience that we would be so lucky to live through. We can’t wait to form a relationship with not only our adoptive child, but also with their birth parents and family through gatherings, playdates, and outdoor activities to name a few. From our family-oriented upbringings and our professions, we truly believe that the more love for a child, the better.
