Lila and Donovan
Hello! We’re Lila and Donovan, writing to you from Alaska. We share our home with our sweet, all-white floof of a cat named Daisy and fill our days with laughter, curiosity, and a healthy dose of silliness. Joy and play are part of our everyday life, often in the form of spontaneous dance parties in the kitchen. We hope to raise a child who grows up knowing that kindness matters and that the world is something to approach with openness and wonder.
From the beginning of our relationship, we talked about the family we wanted to build. Long before it became our shared path, we had each felt drawn to adoption independently. It was never a backup option—it was something we both saw as a deeply meaningful way to become parents. Over the years, as we’ve built a life grounded in friendship, adventure, community, and care for one another, our desire to share that life with a child has only grown stronger. We look forward to parenting together: comforting a child through hard moments, celebrating who they are becoming, building family traditions, and finding joy in the everyday rhythms of family life.
In 2026, we moved into our forever home, a place that already feels rooted in community. Our neighborhood is full of families, kids playing outside, and neighbors who have quickly become close friends. We love being known as the house with the bright yellow door. Children run between houses, spontaneous tea parties pop up in backyards, and neighborhood kids stop by to chase Daisy around the yard or ask Donovan for rides in the cargo bike. We imagine walking our child to school each morning and spending long afternoons at the nearby park. In winter, we look forward to skating together on the frozen lagoon. We don’t take for granted what a special place Alaska is to grow up in, and we hope to raise a child who finds joy in being outdoors, exploring nature, and feeling closely connected to their community.
Donovan is caring, steady, and shows his love through thoughtful, everyday actions. He works as a traffic safety engineer, designing safer streets so kids can bike to school and families can move safely through their neighborhoods with confidence. He’s wonderfully goofy, with an already well-stocked collection of dad jokes. His calm presence, emotional intelligence, and open communication will be some of his greatest gifts as a parent. He’s also an amazing cook who makes restaurant-worthy burritos, sushi, and curries. He loves playing bicycle polo, talking about space exploration and physics, and is often building or fixing something around the house and on our bikes.
Lila is encouraging, thoughtful, and wholeheartedly committed to the people and causes she cares about. She works for an international nonprofit on ocean policy. She has a playful spirit and can often be found dancing (with more enthusiasm than skill) to Bad Bunny. She loves biking and watching the sunset, often building her days around both, and also enjoys reading, writing, and baking. She’s excited to create small family traditions—packing lunchboxes with fruit cut into fun shapes and little jokes tucked inside, reading stories together every day, celebrating birthdays in memorable ways, and finding opportunities to make ordinary moments feel special.
Open adoption matters deeply to us. We believe every child deserves to grow up knowing their story and feeling connected to all the people who love them. We hope for an ongoing relationship built on honesty, respect, and genuine care, and we would welcome meaningful connection with a child’s birth family as part of our lives. Though we live in Alaska, distance will never limit our commitment to staying connected.
We know this process involves immense love and trust, and we are grateful you are taking the time to learn about us.
With warmth, Lila & Donovan
